Happy Birthday, Louise Brown!

by

Getting pregnant or staying pregnant isn’t easy for everyone. Everyone has their own path to parenthood, we understand at STL Fertility. Infertility affects more people than you might know, nearly 15% of the US population of childbearing age is diagnosed with infertility every year. Thanks to advancements like IVF, PGT-A, SET, and FET however, more patients than ever before are finding success, and in much less time. But that wasn’t the case 40 years ago when most hopeful parents struggled with a diagnosis often for years.

On July 25th, 1978, Louise Joy Brown became the world’s first birth through in vitro fertilization or IVF. It’s been reported that her parents tried to have a child for nearly nine years without success ultimately being diagnosed with blocked fallopian tubes. With her birthday coming up, we’re reminded at STL Fertility just how important both science and support are to every patient in search of success in the shortest time possible.

“Age is the single biggest factor in the fight against infertility, time is the most valuable treatment option we have” offered Dr. Molina Dayal from STL Fertility. “Louise Brown’s birthday is an important milestone that reminds us that every patient has a unique story and set of hopes that we need to focus on to find success.”

Dr. Maureen Schulte from STL Fertility, who experienced her own challenges with infertility added, “Infertility care can be different from center to center, and the levels of success and support can vary greatly. Patients have a lot of choices of providers and centers here in St. Louis, so finding the right fit for them has never been better.”

With deep roots in the St. Louis community, Dr. Molina Dayal, Dr. Maureen Schulte, and nurse practitioner Melanie Miranda, provide the high touch and hands-on experience that fertility patients expect, supported by clinical outcomes that exceed U.S. benchmarks.

This Sunday, July 25th is not just Louise Brown’s birthday, but a day that should inspire hope for all who need it. Our family is here to help build yours. Happy Birthday, Louise Brown!
